Learn more about Marisa!

Marisa's role in BEan has been to share with parents her experience, hope and successes from her own learning journeys, with her boys.  Marisa hopes to help families to find the best fit for their learner/s on their educational journey.  Her parent, teacher, director, mentor and homeschooling mom experience has shown her that children learn best when they can follow their passions, immerse and connect with learning, get outdoors, and be led and mentored in an experiential way, an inquiry based way,  especially when supported by amazing mentors and teachers who meet this child where they are at in their given educational and emotional experience.

Sarah Mohn

Sarah has a deep love of birds and wildflowers and currently teaches for BEan and a sister program. Sarah is an extraordinary artist, an incredible raptor photographer, and a pet portrait artist. She studied Child Development and has went on to teach art classes at a studio in San Francisco and outdoor education all around Santa Cruz and the Bay Area for young humans for most of her adult life.

She especially enjoys nature journaling, identifying and working with plants and mushrooms, anything bird related, and spreading her admiration of the earth to our future generations. Her love of nature and animals and her wealth of nature led skills, crafts and wild skills shine through in all of her teachings with BEan.

Sarah teaches for BEan Tuesdays @A Team for our Flal Eco Earth Garden Science and Spring Earth Detectives in San Jose and Thursdays Nature Led Outdoor 10-3 program in Cupertino at Stevens Creek, as well as, Alum Rock and Rancho San Antonio, as we park hop with wild learning Field Trips through the semester!

Jennie and her oldest son

Jennie Gilrein

BEan in Nature offered that outdoor opportunity for her children, and they have participated in classes and camps over the last few years. Her children have learned so much and have enjoyed themselves year after year. Jennie has always loved being outdoors. You can find Jennie teaching Earth Detectives and Eco Sci Investigations on Tuesdays with BEan at SJ A Team Homeschool and Wednesdays with BEan at A Team in Cupertino.

Learn more about Jennie!

Jennie has a Bachelor's in Psychology, and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Her work experience includes leading grief groups for children, working with foreign exchange students, and spending several years as a Social Worker for foster youth. She also was part of a University of Washington research group called "Reconnecting Youth," where she lead supportive peer groups in developing coping skills in public schools in Seattle. In all of these settings, her favorite aspect of the work was to experience the resiliency of youth, and opportunity to provide them tools to flourish.

Jennie has three children, currently ages 11, 14, and 17. She is in her 11th year of homeschooling her children, where she enjoys the opportunity to watch them gain knowledge in new and exciting ways, as well as learn new things about the world herself! Jennie never thought she would homeschool her children, but one compelling thought was how they could learn in different settings. BEan in Nature offered that opportunity for her children, and they have participated in classes and camps over the last few years. Her children have learned so much and have enjoyed themselves year after year. Jennie has always loved being outdoors, and spent most of her childhood at the beach in Southern California. She was excited to go to college in Oregon, and then move to Washington after college, where she enjoyed easy access to beautiful hikes, camping, and exploring. She later moved to the Bay Area, and is thankful to be close to her favorite places - Yosemite and Kings Canyon. As life has gotten busier over the years, she is incredibly grateful how her own children and other children she works with will slow her down to point out a unique insect, an intricate spider web, or shape of a cloud. She is excited to be part of the BEan Team as an opportunity to work with children and for continue a shared appreciation of our beautiful world!

In Loving Memory of Anole Dahlstrom

anole-dahlstrom.png

Nature Educator, fire doula, friend and mama. Loving Momma to 4 beautiful children Diamond, Cleo, Jade and Sequoia.

Although Anole is not here we always know she is with us in the forests and the sweet places we get to roam and play with the kiddos at BEan…

It is with a heavy heart we regret to say that our beloved Anole passed away on  August 7, 2017. Anole added her support, her love, her magic and her creative talents to all she did, in all of the wonderful programs she worked in. She always wove her magic, with love and attention, with the children.  We are so grateful for our time with her and all that she mentored us in!

We will continue on our adventures, our wild crafting and our ancient living skills & teachings in her honor.  We will miss her radiant light but we shall carry it forward!
